Dublinia

Connor and I had a blast at Dublinia, which is a museum dedicated to the Viking and Medieval history in Ireland. It is definitely meant for kids, but it was pretty much empty when we got there so Connor and I played with everything instead! There were rooms made to look like villages and homes of people living in these time periods.

I always knew I was part Viking!

Connor's favorite exhibit! It came with farting noises and everything...

Viking traded spices, furs, and slaves

We learned how to write our names

Vikings were often buried with their weapons

The Medieval section showed what it was like to live in that time, including a typical home, a fair complete with carnival games, and disease and death.

Dublinia made being in the stocks a game! If you threw a ball and hit his face, he'd talk to you!

The top floor of the museum was all about how they discovered all of this. It showed genuine Viking and Medieval artifacts including the skeletal remains of a Viking warrior and a medieval woman, both found in Dublin. Because of this, they didn't allow any pictures. It was really interesting to see what different archaeological digs looked like and how it worked! I think before this, the only time I had seen digs like this were in movies like Jurassic Park, but unfortunately the vikings didn't ride around on dinosaurs!

The museum is attached to the Christ Church Cathedral and had access to the Tower of Saint Michael. We climbed to the top and were treated to a beautiful view of the city!
